**Last updated: July 4, 2026** --- > **MusicX does not collect, transmit, or share your data.** All information the app generates stays on your device and is never sent to me or any third party. --- ## About This Policy MusicX ("the App") is an iOS music discovery app developed by Joshua Grant. This policy explains what information the App stores on your device, what Apple Music data it accesses, and what we do not collect. Because MusicX has no backend servers and no account system, none of the data described below ever leaves your device. --- ## Information Stored on Your Device MusicX saves the following data locally using Apple's SwiftData framework and UserDefaults. This data exists only on your device and is removed when you delete the App. ### Song History When you discover a song through MusicX, the App saves its metadata from the Apple Music catalog to your device: - Song title, artist name, and album name - Release date and duration - Album artwork URLs (hosted on Apple's CDN) - Genre tags - Apple Music catalog identifier - Whether you have bookmarked the song - The date and time you discovered it ### App Preferences The App saves your settings to your device, including whether Auto-Play is enabled and which genres you have chosen to hide from the discovery feed. ### App Instance Identifier On first launch, the App generates a random identifier (UUID) and stores it locally on your device. This identifier is not linked to your identity, is not associated with any account, and is never transmitted off your device. --- ## Apple Music Access MusicX requests permission to use Apple Music in order to search the catalog for songs to recommend and to queue playback using Apple's system music player. Album artwork is downloaded from Apple's content delivery network. The App does not access your personal Apple Music library, your listening history, your playlists, or any other personal information tied to your Apple ID. Catalog searches are used only to surface new music for you to discover. All interactions with Apple Music are handled through Apple's MusicKit framework and are subject to [Apple's Privacy Policy](https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/). --- ## What MusicX Does Not Do MusicX contains no analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services. The following are not collected or transmitted: - No personal information (name, email, phone number) - No analytics or usage tracking - No advertising identifiers (IDFA) or device fingerprinting - No location, contacts, camera, or microphone access - No crash reporting or diagnostics sent to third parties - No third-party SDKs that collect data - No data sharing with advertisers or data brokers --- ## Data Retention and Deletion Your song history and preferences remain on your device until you remove them. You can clear your entire song history at any time from the Settings screen within the App. Individual songs can be deleted from the History view. Deleting MusicX from your device permanently removes all locally stored data. --- ## Children's Privacy MusicX does not collect any personal information from users of any age, including children under 13. The App is not directed at children. --- ## Changes to This Policy If this policy changes in a meaningful way, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. --- ## Contact If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, you can reach me at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]). --- *© 2026 Joshua Grant.
